2009 Nominee for
"Club/Mobile DJ of the Year"

&
"Syndicated Radio Show of the Year"
for the
Carolina Sounds Beach Show
Butch Halpin has been "spinning tunes" since 1976 in clubs and for private parties.
He has served as MC or Co-MC for numerous ocassions, including the 1994 "Original Georgia Prophets Reunion", 2007, 2008 & 2009 Charleston Beach Music & Shag Festival, North Tower Band's 30th Reunion in 2009, fundraisers, grand openings, CD Release Parties and numerous CBMA events.
Butch was the host of The Carolina Sounds Beach Show on radio for over six years on WLWL, WLLN & WBZB and in 2002 he was nominated for "AM Radio DJ of the Year" for the CBMA's.
In August of 2008, Butch returned to the air waves hosting The Carolina Sounds Beach Show on WODR-FM COOL 105.3, from Whiteville, NC. In 2009, the show went into syndication, being aired on WEVA-AM 86 in Emporia, Va. The show can also be heard on Southern Soul dot com and Star FM Radio dot net.
He has been nominated fourteen times for "Club/Mobile DJ of the Year" at the Carolina Beach Music Awards (formerly the Cammy Awards) and won in 2001.
Butch has played music and sung all over North Carolina, South Carolina and southern Virginia for various types of events, including weddings, birthdays, class reunions, pool parties, anniversaries, concerts, holiday parties, and even a divorce party.
Even though Beach Music is what Butch is known for in the Carolinas & Virginia, he also plays Country, Top 40/Dance, Oldies & Motown, and Big Band. (But draws the line on music with "explicit lyrics" or "advisory labels")
Not only does he spin tunes, he sings as well in his DJ Shows. In his shows, he pays tribute to artists like Buddy Holly, The Showmen, Maurice Williams & The Zodiacs, The Clovers, Big Joe Turner, The Heartbeats, Chairmen of the Board, Lloyd Price, Louis Prima, The Oak Ridge Boys, George Strait, Ricky Van Shelton, Elvis Presley, Conway Twitty, and others. Butch co-produced and sang back up vocals on Billy Scott's 1995 Cammy Award winning "Don't Let Go." In the Spring of 2000, Butch sang back up vocals as part of the Shama Lama Choir on the Bill Lyerly Band - Griff collaboration, "Banging In The Dunes" on Bill's CD, Motel Room Blues. He has also had the honor and pleasure of "sitting in" on stage with these well known groups:
